Refine your search with these useful tips...
To enhance your searching experience on the Midlands Meander Website, there are a few things you can do to your search terms.
- If you are looking for a specific word or phrase in the member profiles, try using a double quotation (") around your search term.
eg. The term '"some words"' will find members that contain the exact phrase “some words” in their information. This is useful when you want to find a particular member by their name directly.
- Adding a "+" in front of one of the words in your search phrase forces words to be included in search results. Useful with stop words that otherwise will be discarded
eg. The term '+apple +juice' will find members that contain both the words "apple" and "juice" in their information.
- Adding a "-" in front of one of the words in your search phrase prevents a search term to show in results.
eg. searching for doughnut -cream can help you to avoid creamy doughnuts appearing in your results.
- Adding a "*" in front or behind one of your search words will search for any word that contains those characters in the results.
eg. The term "hill*" might return results that contain words like "hillside", "hilltop", etc.
- The search engine excludes common words like "the", "and", "I", etc.
